The Central Bank announced on Friday (27) that it will promote certain changes in the Brazilian instant payments system, Pix, in order to improve user safety. From now on, transfers between individuals will have a maximum authorized limit of R $ 1,000 per night and at dawn, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., including intrabank transfers, Pix, debit cards and payment of TEDs. Another change is within a minimum period of 24 hours and maximum 48 hours for the execution of the user’s order, carried out digitally, to increase the limits of transactions with means of payment (TED, DOC, intrabank transfers , Pix, boleto, and debit card), thus preventing the immediate increase in the value of transactions in risky situations.
The changes come after a request from banking institutions to make it difficult to commit crimes such as theft, fraud and kidnapping. The bandits have used the facility of fast money transfers to apply scams and commit crimes. “The Central Bank and regulated institutions continue to work to put additional security mechanisms in place as quickly as possible, not only on Pix, but also applicable to other digital payment methods. Pix will continue to evolve to add new functionality and thus continue to provide security and value to society, ”the Central Bank said in a note.
