President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) published this Friday (24) the provisional measure (MP) which opens an extraordinary credit of around 4.1 billion reais for emergency aid. The amount will be allocated to the Department of Citizenship, responsible for the program. “The measure aims to defray expenses with the expansion of Emergency Aid, due to the inclusion of all providers of single-parent families, without distinction of sex,” said the general secretariat of the presidency of the Republic in a press release.
The inclusion came after Congress rejected Presidential Veto # 35/2020. Parliamentarians overturned the veto in a one-day joint session on July 1 this year. The president had vetoed the payment of double aid for men and women heads of single-parent families, that is to say who have only one mother or one father. Bolsonaro intended to allocate the double benefit only to single-parent families of women.
