Bolsonaro Withdraws From Veto On Congressional Budget Amendments | Photo credit: Mario Roberto Duran Ortiz
Contrary to what he had promised, President Jair Bolsonaro has given up on vetoing the rapporteur’s alleged amendments for next year’s budget. These resources are intended for the electoral base of parliamentarians, even with the questioning of the monitoring bodies on transparency in the use of these values. The veto promise made earlier displeased MPs, who were already organizing to reverse the measure. On the other hand, the chief executive has vetoed mechanisms that allow parliamentarians to better control the allocation of resources. The president also vetoed the mandatory 180-day deadline for the release of these values pledge.
