President Jair Bolsonaro met this Thursday (12) with indigenous leaders and pledged support to indigenous people who wish to develop economic activities on their lands. “They [os indígenas] are just like each of us. Indio wants to work, he wants the Internet, he wants progress, he wants to pay taxes, “Bolsonaro said.

The president promised to “give direction for you [indígenas] can really produce. “” It’s up to you to do on your own land what the farmer does on the neighboring farm, “Bolsonaro said.” All of Brazil wants that. “

In Congress, a bill is being drafted that relaxes the rules for delimiting indigenous lands and facilitates the exploitation of economic activities on these lands, such as agriculture, mining and extraction of drink. The proposal has already been approved by the House Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ).

The meeting with the natives took place at the Planalto Palace in the presence of the President of the National Indian Foundation (Funai), Marcelo Augusto Xavier da Silva. Bolsonaro also greeted the Indians who stood in front of the Planalto Palace and even wore a headdress.
