President Jair Bolsonaro intends to transfer the Financial Activities Control Board (Coaf) from the Central Bank to the Ministry of Justice, under the command of Minister Anderson Torres. Bolsonaro has already consulted with allies this week and is considering making the transfer through an interim measure or bill. The information comes from G1.

Previously, the body was already subordinate to the portfolio, but ended up being transferred to the Ministry of the Economy, sparking a crisis between the president and then-justice minister Sergio Moro. The Coaf was responsible for pointing the finger at the atypical financial transactions of Fabrício Queiroz, a friend of the Bolsonaro family. The case opened an investigation into the alleged cracking practice in the office of state deputy Flávio Bolsonaro, the president’s son. The decisions taken by the courts of Rio de Janeiro in connection with the investigation were overturned by the Superior Court of Justice (STJ).
