President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) issued a decree that removes the import tax on two hospital products. The determination is valid for peripheral intravenous catheters, made of polyurethane or ETFE copolymer, and for the article for arteriovenous fistula, consisting of a needle, a butterfly-type fixation base, a plastic tube with connector and shutter. The text was published on Wednesday (12) in the Official Journal (DOU).

The PIS / PASEP, COFINS, PIS / PASEP-Import and COFINS-Import rates have been set to zero. According to the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, the estimated collection loss, with the inclusion of these elements, will be R $ 3.50 million per month for the year 2022. In 2023, it is estimated a loss of collection of R $ 45.27. million; and for 2024, R $ 48.57 million.

However, the government has informed that the loss of collection for the year 2022 will be compensated through a 5% to 10% increase in the IPI rates collected on classified flat glasses. “For the following years, the loss will already be taken into account in the estimate of annual income,” he adds.
