Procon-SP informed this Monday (21) B2W Companhia Digital, the company responsible for the websites of Americanas and Submarino, to request an explanation of the problem that caused the suspension of access. On Sunday (20), the two sites went offline. Since then, Americanas and Submarino said they had suspended a portion of vendors “proactively” while working to restore e-commerce “safely as soon as possible.”

B2W must inform how the consumers concerned will be able to exercise their rights and prove what measures will be taken to ensure the security of personal data. Procon-SP also asks companies about regularization forecasts; implemented security measures and procedures; and steps taken to mitigate any damage resulting from the reported attack, UOL reported.

Additionally, Procon-SP requires explanations of the type of transactions and operations that have been and are still being compromised; what are the impacts for the consumer; whether the attack affected the company’s database and what type of information was affected. According to reports on Downdetector, the instability affected the companies’ website, mobile app, and login system.
