The Senate approved this Wednesday evening (4) a bill that facilitates the opening of businesses, in addition to other measures aimed at modernizing and reducing bureaucracy in the business environment in Brazil. The text, derived from MP 1.040 / 2021, has undergone changes in the Senate and should return to the House. According to the government, the aim of the proposal is to improve the country’s position in the World Bank’s Doing Business ranking, which measures competitiveness in the global business environment. Currently, Brazil is in 124th position, out of 190 countries. One of the initiatives of the project is the automatic issuance, without human assessment, of licenses and permits for activities considered to be of medium risk. In the case of environmental licenses, the rules provided for by specific legislation remain, as the text emphasizes.
