The services sector advanced 2.4% from October to November, after two months of negative rates, recovering the cumulative loss of 2.2%. With the November result, the sector was 4.5% above the pre-pandemic level recorded in February 2020, but it is 7.3% below the record reached in November 2014. The data is taken from the monthly survey on services, published this Thursday (13). , by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
Since the start of the year, services have increased by 10.9%. In 12 months, the highest is 9.5%. The IBGE indicated that four of the five activities surveyed progressed in November, with an emphasis on information and communication services (5.4%), which recovered the loss of 2.9% observed the previous two months. The information technology sector grew 10.7% from October to November, the highest rate since January 2018 (11.8%).
The second positive impact comes from the transport activity, which grew by 1.8%. With an increase of 2.8%, services provided to families represent the third positive impact of the month. On the other hand, with a drop of 0.3%, professional, administrative and complementary services posted the fourth consecutive negative rate, accumulating a loss of 3.7%.
At the regional level, 18 of the 27 units of the federation experienced an expansion in the volume of services between October and November 2021. Among the places with positive rates, the most important impact came from São Paulo (4%), followed of Rio de Janeiro (1.6%). , Santa Catarina (3.7%) and Paraná (2.1%).
