Economy Minister Paulo Guedes said on Thursday (2) that groups close to President Jair Bolsonaro were hampering progress on administrative reform. The statements were made at a virtual event that debated civil service reform in the country. “I handed over (the administrative reform) to the Executive and the president’s entourage blocked it, it didn’t let it work at the start. Then he came to Covid and mixed it all up, ”Guedes said.

The proposal was only sent to Congress in September 2020 and is still pending definition. Last month, House Speaker Arthur Lira (PP-AL) demanded a greater effort from the federal government for the vote. The project being stopped, the executive negotiates the publication of the parliamentary amendments with the Congress.
