The Senate approved this Wednesday (11) the suspension of proof of life for recipients of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) until December 31 of this year due to the pandemic. The proposal, with changes to the Chamber of Deputies, goes to the sanction of President Jair Bolsonaro. The information was published by Folha de S. Paulo.
The first version of the project provided for the sending of proof of life electronically or by post. However, the determination was withdrawn from the text by the deputies and accepted by the senators. The approved text provides that from 2022, banks will use biometric systems to provide proof of life to retirees.
In addition, beneficiaries over 80 years of age or with reduced mobility should be given greater preference. Proof of life can also be made by a legal representative or by a lawyer of the beneficiary, legally registered with the INSS.
