Viação Itapemirim, an interstate bus company, will no longer offer road transport services in 73 cities. In total, the company’s 16 lines will be closed from January 27, 2022. The company is part of the same group that recently paralyzed its flight operations on Christmas Eve, leaving around 110,000 passengers embarrassed by the sudden disruption. One of Brazil’s largest transport companies, Itapemirim has been under bankruptcy protection since 2016 due to tax debts estimated at R $ 2 billion.

The request for cancellation of the lines was made by Viação Itapemirim to the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT). The acceptance of the request was published this Wednesday (29) in order 476.
